LCMinutes 1.37 Is Ready

LCMinutes 1.37 is out with support of simultaneously data connection and phone calls, it also fix a bug that change of free minutes and data/SMS allowance is not reflected in balance initially.

Version 1.3x user should upgrade to 1.37.

Nice release and thanks for your hard work. I love LCMinutes :-)

I don't know if this is the right place for product suggestions, but i did have the following idea:

1. What about an import export function for rate plans? So user can create rate plans and maybe upload them on your blog?
2. What about warning messages for used data volumen/time?

I also have a little question:
I did have 50 free minutes/month (no rollover) in every network. Every started minute (from this free minutes) is counted as full minute (f.e. if i make a call that takes 13 seconds, i've lost one free minute). After all free minutes are used up, i usually pay 0,19 cent/minute (60/10) in every network and every day/time. But i don't know how to set this up in LCMinutes. I don't know if i have to save the 50 free minutes to "Free minutes X for weekday" ... or "Free minutes X for long distance"? And how i can define, that every started minute is counted as full minute?

Hi, Reni

Import/Export of rate plan is already there for some time. Check Menu -> Settings -> Menu -> Import / Export.

Warning message not in plan yet.

For your first minute, set following
Call Rates: $0.0317 in weekday
Per: 10 seconds
: X using start rates only
The First: 60 seconds in every
: Call is charged at
: $0.19 for every
: 60 seconds

For your free minutes, how many networks you have?

hi, i am currently using an o2 xda II mini, and LC Minutes won't run on my phone as mine is running Windows Mobile 2003, which is one version older den Windows Mobile 5, so i was wondering if you can develop a version for WM 2003...thanks

Hi, I have no plan to support Windows Mobile 2003, because quite some APIs used by LCMinutes are only available in WM5 or later.

Hi, very nice work, really great that so many people make such great apps for PPC for free!! :)

I was wondering, if there is perhaps a possibility to integrate a roaming plan?
Since my PPC (WM6) is able to differ between Home Network and Roaming, could this perhaps be used by the application to differ as well between 2 prices.

Lot of greets from tiny Luxembourg

Hi, Eric

Thanks for your interest in LCMinutes.

Yes, LCMinutes knows whether a phone is roaming or not. But the problem is rates during roaming: do you have different rates when you are roaming in different network? For example, is the rates the same when you are roaming in France, German, or other country, or even other network in your own country (if your own network is unavailable)?

hi lyonplus,
my provider uses so called "roaming zones", where complete western and central europe have the same rates. This is mainly due to a EU-decision from last summer, where they fixed a max. rate for SMS/minute in roaming. This lead to the providers all adjusting their roaming prices to that maximum :-) (how could it be different).
So a roaming "tab" would make sense for me. But if not asked from other people, I guess it'll be too much effort.
Anyway, the app is already great.
Ah I forgot, because of the tininess of Lux. there's simply no need to roam in a different national network :-)

Hi, Eric

Roaming support is in my plan before your request. But I just put it on hold because I have no too much request on it.

And, how this cap thing works? Is it something like all roaming usage surpassing the cap will be free? For example, if the cap is $100.00, then all roaming usage above $100.00 is actually free of charge?

Unknown said...

Ah no, sorry, think you misunderstood.
It is not a cap in that way. It is simply that the prices per minute/SMS were given an upper limit from the EU-parliament, because some providers really exagerated with roaming prices. Now, the EU defined the max. price/minute to 0,59EUR, I think, so nearly all providers now use this price for roaming, in order to at least get the possible maximum. Same for SMS and incoming calls.

Hi, Eric

Thanks for your info. I have just checked some news about this so called "cap" too. So it's a cap for the rates, not for the total charge. Too bad.

But this also means it won't require any change of my planned implementation, which is good.

This feature should be ready in the release of my next release.

Yes, that's right, it's all about the rates, not total charge.

I'm looking forward to your next release, you're great!!

Big thx,
Eric

This release doesn't update used minutes and data volume on today screen on my Xda Orbit (HTC Artemis), with german Windows Mobile 6, like LCMinutes 1.35.

I also don't know if i have to save my 50 free minutes to "Free minutes X for weekday" ... or "Free minutes X for long distance"? And how i can define, that every started minute is counted as full minute?

LyonPlus said...

Hi, Rene

Your 50 free minutes should be regarded as free weekday minutes. Long distance minutes is mainly intended for, as you know, long distance.

If your today screen is not updated, how about the main window of LCMinutes? Can you find any calls, SMS, and data volume recorded?

Hi Lyon ... after soft-reseting the device, LCMinutes works again. I try to to set up my free minutes now :-)

Cool, going to upgrade to this version. However, for my v1.30. It seem that after 23rd of the month, it will not start afresh. What I meant was a total new cycle. It just roll on to this month... weird...

Hi, JoshO

Can you find an item with "Monthly update." note in your LCMinutes main window in day 23?

Unknown said...

Had no idea where is it.
By the way, whats the setting for Weekday/ Evening ? Mine is

Free incoming
Outgoing for 100min
500sms
Internet plan $22.42 (where shall i place it? Addon or net access?)

As for Display, I wanted to see my total call out. But in it, it show Free Daytime min, used Day time min etc... quite confusing. heh.
