Hey Lyon?

Nice program and thanks for your work, but can you help me?

I don't know, how i have to setup it.

I have a postpaid plan, 10 EUR, with 100 free minutes per month.
There is no difference between day an night, weekday and weekend day.
If I spend the 100 minutes, then every minutes cost 0.19 EUR, in 60/10. The SMS cost allways 0.19 EUR each. Also i have 150 free sms, after them 0,19 EUR. There is no difference if the calls are to my operator or other operator.
My data access cost 0,09 EUR per Kb.

What mean's rollover?

Thanks a lot!

Philipp

Hi, Philipp

Rollover means if you have free minutes, free SMS and if they are not totally consumed, the leftover can be rolled into next month.

And just define your weekday as 0-6, and evening as 00-00.

Just let me know if you have any further questions.

Hello again...

The count works succesfull, but in my today screen, i can't see my free minutes or freesms.

The program shows: 1/0; 2/0; 0K/0M.

And the currrent balance now shows the price for one minute and 2 sms. What I have to do, that the programm subtract from my freeminutes and sms?

What means: "use start rates only"?
And, is it poosible, that i can see the time used data traffic?
Because i have to pay per minute, not per kb.

Thanks!

LyonPlus said...

Hi, Philipp

Using start rates means when your phone call starts in weekend (or daytime), it will be charged with weekend (or evening) rates, even if it lasts into weekday (or evening).

And it seems your free minutes and SMS are just not reflected in your balance info. You can try changing one of them to a different value and then change them back to see whether they will be correctly reflected in your balance info.

As for the data usage info displaying, I will update it in my future release so it can display time info instead of traffic info.

Hi Lyon.

After I changed the number of used minutes/sms in the "Current Balance", in ht e today screen, my free sms and free minutes are reflected.

But if I now call a person for a minute, this minute is not reflected at the "Current Balance" (in the today-Screen the minute is rflected).THe same with the sms.

Do you know why?

LyonPlus said...

Hi, Philipp, I won't know unless I see the traces. It could be that the monitor module is not running. And, BTW, what's your phone and its OS?

Philipp said...

My phone is a "Xda Orbit 2" (I think, it's only in germany avaible), a branded/designed by O2 version, based on the HTC Touch Cruise or HTC Polaris or HTC P3650 (I don't know, how it's named in canada). With Windows Mobile 6 Professional.

Now it work's. I don't know why, suddenly it work's. I only changed some things in the settings.

How is it possible, do delete all dates of your program? I will reinstall it to know, what I changed. But at my first attempt, my settings were saved anywhere. It's because I will support german users with the same problem...

Thanks!

Hi, Philipp

Glad to know it works now! As it's a HTC Pocket PC phone, it should work without problem.

If you want to delete everything created by LCMinutes, just uninstall LCMinutes, reboot, and delete folder Application Data\LCMinutes.

Philipp said...

Hey Lyon...

I reinstalled your prgoram, again the free-minutes and free-sms aren't displayed on the today-screen. Anda again, this Information was diplayed, after edit a date in the "Current Balance"-menu. Maybe this is a bug?

Also I noted, that a sms, which was not sended, because missing connection, will be counted to sended sms (is this explantation in my english unterstandable?, i hope). Maybe you can sometime change that.

But, all in all, that's the best program in this field. Great work!

Still one question: Free-minutes were count as full minutes, is that right?

Thanks a lot!

Philipp

Hi, Philipp

Yes this is a bug, I have tried to fix it in this 1.44, but it seems it has not fixed it. I will investigate further.

For the failed to send SMS counted as sent, I feel really strange, because I count a SMS is sent only when it's moved from outbox folder to sent folder, which means sending, along with other flags.

Free minutes can only be minutes (not seconds), but the deduction of free minutes is decided by your charge interval. For example if your charge interval is 10 seconds, then your call minutes will always be rounded up to the next 10 seconds.

Installed latest LC Minutes yesterady night (24th April) for my ATT Tilt used on Fido with Blackberry connect. My data display was working OK ( I also have SPB GPRS monitor installed). About an hour ago noticed on the Today screen, it indicates
1.03M (SPB shows total data usage today of 30K)after midnight, it showed less than 10K. Rebooted device and now shows 2.05M. Generally get about 2kB extra per reboot, when BB connect starts.
When I start LCminutes, my view is for only 'data' I have the following data entries

08-04-25 14:36:58 11:43
10.185.222.70: (365, 2067) bytes

08-04-25 13:42:33 52:14
10.185.196.80: (895, 2042) bytes

08-04-22 22:12:10 15:29:41
10.184.136.210 (22084, 7227) bytes

When I select 'show data allowance', I get 2.05M/0M.
Changing my data Limit to either 7000 KB or 7168 KB does not change the displayed 2.05M/0M

LyonPlus said...

Hi, nzoka2003, it seems your data usage is 34680 bytes, instead of 2.05M. I guess you have data connection always on?

And for data allowance not displaying, I have tried to fix it but seems no success. Could you please choose NO when you are prompted to apply it to your previous call and SMS, after you change and save the data allowance value in your rate plan setting?

Nyarko said...

Thanks. I use BB connect which is an always on BIS data connection.
Interstingly though I am not given any option to apply/not apply changes to my previous call and SMS, after I change and save the data allowance value in my rate plan setting?

LyonPlus said...

Sorry, nzoka2003, I am not sure why you have not been prompted. Maybe you can try something else, like your weekend rates for your phone call?

Hello Lyonplus,

First of all thank you very much for LCMinutes - it's excellent software and works great on my Eten M700 with WM6.

There is one thing I do not fully understand as regards calculation of used SMS with 'Shared SMS/Call' option on.

I have rate plan with shared SMS/Calls (12 seconds per 1 SMS) and here is how LCMinutes behaves:

1. If I turn off the option 'Shared SMS/Call' then each call and SMS is counted correctly, i.e. each call increases 'Used minutes' counter and each SMS I send increases 'Used SMS' counter.

2. However, if I turn on that option then both calls and SMS increase only 'Used minutes' counter, i.e. if I send SMS then 'Used SMS' counter do not change (unexpected) and 'Used minutes' increases by 12 seconds (expected).

I thought that with that option turned on both minutes and SMS counters should increase simultaneously with proportion defined by relation between SMS and seconds - do I understand it correctly? In such case please let me know if I should set something additionally to obtain such behaviour or maybe there is a little bug which could be fixed in next release?

At the moment I cope with that issue by turning off the option (share SMS/calls is not taken into consideration by LCMinutes in such case but at least I have correct values on SMS and calls counters).

Thank you in advance for your comment.
And once again - thanks for great application!

LyonPlus said...

Hi, klmn

This is the intended behaviour. The Used SMS counter is not increased so if user has free SMS allowance besides the shared call/sms units, it will be correctly calculated.

Unfortunately I have no time for it now, but once I got the time, I might add an option to increase the SMS counter even when the SMS is counted in shared units.

I am sorry, I am quite ignorant about technical issues. Could you possibly help?
I have 300 minutes per month I share with my wife. All night calls between 9:00PM and 7:00AM are totally free and all week-end calls between 9:00PM Friday and 7:00AM Monday are free. No data, no text messaging, etc. I have a voice plan only. How would I set that up?

Martymkm said...

I also have free minutes to and from my home and anyone that has the same carrier that I have (Alltel).

Philipp said...

Hey Martymkm,

I think, free minutes to and from home aren't supported, also I see a problem with shared free-minutes(?).

For the rest:
...set 'Weekday' to 1-5
...set 'Evening' to 21-07
...check 'evening as weekand'
...at 'Free calls', check 'free weekend call' and 'free evening call'

Have all users of Alltel the same preselection? Then you can add this preselection to the field at free calls. If not, also I see a problem there.

I hope I can help...

LyonPlus said...

Hi, Philipp, thanks a lot for offering you help here.

And sorry that I am a little busy these days and have gotten the time to finish the features I promised. I will try my best to get some time this weekend to work on it.

But for free numbers, Martymkm you can put your home number and the numbers you know belong to your own carrier into the free number editing box.

And as Philipp said, no support for shared minutes between different phone numbers.

Martymkm said...

The shared minutes is not really important to me, just how many I use personally.
As far as Alltel is concerned, all persons with that carrier can talk to each other and it doesn't take away either of their minutes.
How does the program know when your free evening rate start? Some of the upper level plans your evening starts at 7PM.
Thanks for the response,I was hoping there was some way to exclude certain numbers....

LyonPlus said...

Hi, Martymkm, just follow name's comment above to define your free evening & weekends calls, and put any phone number that are free in the free number editing box.

Philipp said...

Hey again,

To see how much free-minutes used in the today-screen, you have to check 'show used daytime minutes' (in the 'Today Display Items'-menu). Also you can see this number in the 'Current Balance'-menu.

As far as Alltel is concerned, all persons with that carrier can talk to each other and it doesn't take away either of their minutes.
---> In Germany, mostly, the people who the same provider, have the same preselection, then it is possible, to add this in the field for free calls

How does the program know when your free evening rate start? Some of the upper level plans your evening starts at 7PM.
---> You set this with '21-07' in the 'Current Rate Plan'-menu under 'Evening'; 21 stands for 9PM 07 for 7AM

If there are any questions, ask.

Hey Lyon,
can you help me with setup my phone? I dont have any free minutes. I pay for calls another tax in day (8am-6pm)and another tax in evening (6pm-8am)- from Monday to Sunday.
Can you help me? Thank you. Kamil

LyonPlus said...

Hi, Kamil

Define your weekday as 0-6, your evening as 18-08, use following call rates string:
x/0.0/y/-50/0.0/0.0/0.0/60/0/0/0x0:;

as x is your daytime per minutes rates and y is your evening per minute rates.

Hi Lyon,
thanks for your help, but I have just one question. My operator make one change and now I pay for calls in weekend(Saturday, Sunday) like calls in evening. How can I setup weekend calls like evening calls.
Thank you very much
